Cornerstone Publishes Final Report - Quarter 4 Comparative Analysis 2008-2009 for Direct Mail Fundraising

TORONTO, ONTARIO, April 5, 2010The Cornerstone Group of Companies has published a final report, Quarter 4 Comparative Analysis 2008 - 2009, on the direct mail activity of 31 of its fundraising Clients.

This is the fourth installment of a study to track the impact of the recession on direct mail fundraising in Canada by comparing results, by quarter, in 2008 to those in 2009. Cumulatively, the fundraisers in the study mailed over 32 million pieces in 2009.

Cornerstone's analysis shows that prospecting activity was severely curtailed in 2009. House File mailings were less constrained. However, in both cases response rates and average gift results exceeded those of 2008.

The big concern moving into 2010 is that the lack of prospecting in 2009 has resulted in smaller House Files for 2010 which will likely have a negative impact on 2010 gross revenue.

Ossie Hinds, President and CEO of Cornerstone states, "We believe all fundraisers should prospect more aggressively in 2010 in order to replenish their House Files. House Files continue to be one of the most lucrative sources of ongoing donation revenue for charities."
